Pepe Deluxe - A Night and a Day
I don’t know if this band’s on people’s radar — I’m only aware of them through a very enthusiastic supporter on the Tiny Mix Tapes staff — but, hey, they should be. Because they’re pretty rad. They’ve got a record coming out in the very near future called Queen of the Wave, which is definitely worthy of attention for being the first record with an original composition played on this thing. Also: worthy of attention for awesome maximalist surfy psych-pop reasons. My brain keeps making the connection that the above song sounds like The Olivia Tremor Control playing a Black Keys song. Make sense of that.
